Passport to Art

Get ready for a creative journey around the globe with Passport to Art! This exciting class is all about discovering the world through crafts, painting, and hands-on creativity. Students will "travel" to a country and learn about its unique art. Students will practice keeping an art passport, using fine motor skills, and creating a variety of projects.

Class Supplies Needed: Pencils, eraser, scissors, glue sticks, and Sharpie markers.

Please provide a labeled art box or large sealable bag for supplies. Siblings are welcome to share  supplies that remain in the art room.

3rd Period

Art Smart

This exciting class will provide students with a greater understanding of "art" with projects through imagination, collage, the elements and principles of design, and explorative drawing. Focus will be directed to: Art production - Utilize various media such as drawing pencils, markers, and paint to exercise design, composition, and creativity. Art history- Understand past artists and their styles. Art criticism- Learning to assess the significance of a piece of artwork. A variety of media will be explored and artistic skills fine-tuned.

Class Supplies Needed: Pencils, eraser, scissors, glue sticks, black Sharpie marker, and a plain wide ruled composition book to turn into an art journal. 

Please provide a labeled art box or large sealable bag for supplies to remain in the art room.

4th Period

• $120/Semester

Artist Style Club 

This art club style mixed media art class will involve a variety of 2D and 3D projects. Focus will be directed on functional and creative art using multiple materials such as clay, weaving, paper, and paint focus. Times and options for group projects and individual art will be determined.

Class Supplies Needed: Pencils, eraser, scissors, glue sticks, black Sharpie marker, and a plain wide ruled composition book for use as an art journal.  

Please provide a labeled art box or large sealable bag for supplies to remain in the art room.

Monday 2 PM  - 6th Period or

Wednesday 1 PM - 5th Period

• $120/Semester
• Credit Hour: 1; Grades 9-12

Drawing & Painting (2D):  Students will be encouraged to master painting and drawing skills by pushing the creative envelope as they paint/draw still life, photographs, or pictures from their imagination. Pencils, charcoal, pastels, acrylic, and water colors will be used. 

Weekly sketchbook assignments are designed to keep skills sharp and expand art knowledge.

Class Supplies Needed: Pencils (2H, HB, and 2B variety), eraser, 8 1/2 x 11" (or larger) sketchbook, and Sharpie markers. 

Monday 1 PM  - 5th Period or

Wednesday 2 PM - 6th Period

• Credit Hour: 1; Grades 9-12
• Prerequisite: General art background

Explorative Art (3D):  Students will explore 3D functional art by creating artwork from clay, yarn, and recycled materials. Students will focus on wheel throwing, hand building, glazing, and weaving. Students should be ready to draw out their ideas as part of the creation process.

Class Supplies Needed: Pencils (2H, HB, and 2B variety), eraser, 8 1/2 x 11"(or larger) sketchbook, and Sharpie markers. Future items needed may be of a recycled material.
