Our goal is to create a fun, hands-on learning environment where team members gain experience through active participation. Students will collaborate to design, build, and program a robot using the VEX IQ Robotics Program. Along the way, they will practice teamwork, documentation, and problem-solving, turning every design challenge into a learning opportunity.
Once their robots are built and tested, team members will have the chance to compete against other robotics groups in multiple competitions, analyze their results, and refine their designs for improvement. (November - February Saturday competitions).
Year-round tournaments at regional, state, and national levels lead up to the VEX Robotics World Championship each April.

The ability to speak a second language in our society today is an asset for any student’s future.
Students will gain the building blocks required toward reaching that goal with American Sign Language (ASL). Each student will learn the finger spelled alphabet and how to properly shape those letters. In addition, basic signs such as colors, days of the week, and months of the year will be introduced. Beginning conversational signs will be taught along with the history of ASL.

This course is designed to develop students' critical thinking abilities and apply them to modern situations in both formal debates and informal conversations. Students will complete a teacher-developed workbook that shows how to identify problems, brainstorm solutions, assess their relative merits and detriments, and develop a workable plan to solve that problem. These are more than political/ethical issues; students will learn to address every day problems, and even how to approach a non-believer and have Christ-centered conversations with them.
During the second semester students will transition to application. The semester will end with a formal debate unit in which students will learn the art of debate, how to condense ideas into quick, easy to understand presentations and argue the merits of their solutions. Considerable research will be necessary during the final unit.

German is a fascinating language to learn and incredibly useful in the business and medical fields. Studies have also shown that students who take at least two years of high school German score an average of 100 points higher on the verbal sections of the SAT & ACT standardized tests, as German grammar is similar to English; thus American students often learn more about their own language.
Students will learn the fundamentals of German vocabulary and grammar with an emphasis on conversational German through dialogues with each other and with the instructor.
Coursework will focus heavily on basic vocabulary in the first semester with daily quizzes and homework. In the second semester we shift to more complex grammar and writing short dialogues and essays.
